Walking from Covent Garden Piazza

From Covent Garden tube station, head west along Long Acre. After two minutes turn left into Garrick Street, which becomes St Martin's Lane. Cross into Charing Cross Road, then turn right into Little Newport Street. We are number 8.

If you are starting from the Royal Opera House or the Piazza itself, the route is similar but a touch shorter - aim for Cranbourn Street and you will be at our door in around 6 minutes.

Why we are worth the walk

Covent Garden has plenty of restaurants. Most are not halal. The Asian options around the Piazza tend to be Japanese, Thai, or pan-Asian fusion - rarely halal certified.

If you keep halal and want Chinese food, your nearest fully halal option is The Greedy Sheep. We are not halal-friendly. We are properly halal certified, with HFA-approved meat and an exclusively halal kitchen.

This matters when you are with family, with Muslim guests from out of town, or when you simply do not want to compromise.

What to order

Northern Chinese cuisine is built around lamb, beef, hand-pulled wheat noodles, and dumplings. If you have only ever eaten Cantonese Chinese food in the UK, this is going to feel different.

A first-timer order:

• Start with pan-fried dumplings
• Move to a bowl of lamb noodle soup
• Add rou jia mo to share
• Finish with cold sesame cucumbers if it is summer

Theatre, opera, and after the show

Covent Garden is theatre territory. The Royal Opera House, the Donmar Warehouse, the Aldwych and the Lyceum are all within walking distance. We do a brisk pre-theatre service - see our guide to pre-theatre dinner in Chinatown for timing.

After the show, kitchen closes at 10pm. If your curtain comes down at 9:45pm and you can run, you will make last orders.
